In Denmark around five percent of all gay men are estimated to be HIV positive. In Copenhagen it is probably closer to ten percent. Gay men make out the section of the population, which has been most severely affected by HIV.

Around 5500 people in Denmark are believed to be infected with HIV. Of these, some 1000 persons are estimated to be infected without knowing it.
